ROMAN. Bronze Oil Lamp. Circa 1st-2nd Century AD. Length 7 1/4 inches, height 4 inches. Ovoid body with spatulate spout on pedestal base, the curving handle terminating in a horsehead finial. Dusty dark green patina. The base of the handle appears to have been strengthened with solder, possibly in antiquity. This wonderful piece was otherwise perfect until recently, when it was damaged in shipping, with a one inch chip broken out of the foot. We will include the chip and the flakes, and you can restore it yourself! ($500)
