ROMAN. Bronze Votive Statue of Mercury. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Height 3 5/8 inches (93mm). Statue of a nude standing Mercury, left leg flexed. He wears a winged petasos and carries a cloak over his arm, as well as his attributes of a caduceus and a purse. Very fine style with a dusty green patina. The tip of the caduceus is broken off, otherwise in choice condition. ($3000)

Probably a votive statue intended for the lararium, or family household shrine.
