A Fellow of the Royal Society, and member of Parliament for Launceston (1722), John Freind was imprisoned of a short while on suspicion of Jacobite leanings,. Upon his realeas, he appointed physician to Frederick, Prince of Wales (father of George III) and later, Queen Caroline. Freind was published extensively.
