CILICIA, Aegeae. Pseudo-autonomous issue. temp. Galba, AD 68-69. Æ (24.5mm, 10.91 g, 12h). Dated Caesarean Era 115 (68/9 AD). Head of Perseus right, wearing cap and large gorgoneion head; harpa over shoulder; c/m: male (Asklepios?) head right within incuse oval / Helmeted and draped bust of Athena left; to right, ЄI[P] (date) above monogram; c/ms: serpent-entwined staff within incuse rectangle and goat kneeling left within incuse circle. RPC II 1770; SNG Levante 1700; SNG BN –; for c/ms: Howgego – on obverse; cf. 313 and 430 on reverse. Fine, rough dark brown surfaces with traces of green. Very rare, only five specimens on CoinArchives, including the Levante coin.
