KINGS of MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios. 323-317 BC. AV Stater (19mm, 8.55 g, 12h). Lampsakos mint. Struck under Leonnatos, Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos. Head of Apollo right, wearing laurel wreath / Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right; below, facing head of female(?) and monogram; in exergue, serpent coiled right. Cf. Thompson, Philip 31–2; Le Rider –; ADM II Series VI 120 (same dies); CNG E-277, lot 33 (same dies); Heritage 3030, lot 23716 (same dies). EF, lustrous, double struck on reverse. Extremely rare with both control marks (facing head and serpent) used with this monogram, one noted by ADM (in Berlin), two in CoinArchives; all from the same die pair.
