442, Lot: 75. Estimate $200.
Sold for $140. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Gallienus. AD 253-268. Ӕ As (22mm, 4.40 g, 11h). Rome mint. 3rd issue, AD 256-257. IMP GALLIENVS P F AVG GERM, laureate and cuirassed bust right / [V]ICTORIA AVG, Victory walking left, holding wreath and palm; S C in exergue. MIR 36, 115o; RIC V (sole reign) 433. VF, rough brown surfaces.

Ex Ars Antiqua I (3 November 2000), lot 397.

The obverse legend shows that this coin belongs to this issue of the joint reign, so the inclusion of AVG instead of AVGG in the reverse legend presumably represents a die-sinking error.
