EGYPT, Alexandria. Hadrian. AD 117-138. BI Tetradrachm (25mm, 10.75 g, 12h). Dated RY 2 (AD 117/118). Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Nike advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond; L B (date) to left. Köln –; Dattari (Savio) 1409 var. (obv. legend); K&G –; RPC III 4999; Emmett 872.2 (R5 = Dattari 1409). VF, toned, some porosity and verdigris. Extremely rare, RPC cites only one specimen in Birmingham (Barber RE 0166), and the Dattari specimen is the only example listed with the first legend for Hadrian’s regnal year two.
