SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Antioch. Trajan. AD 98-117. AR Tetradrachm (27.5mm, 14.57 g, 6h). Struck AD 98-99. Laureate head of Trajan left, set on eagle standing left; palm frond to upper right, club to left / Laureate bust of Melkart-Hercules right, with lion’s skin tied around neck. Prieur 1477 var. (Tyre; obv. type direction); McAlee 451; RPC III 3524/4 (this coin cited). VF, toned, light scratches, weakly struck in areas. Extremely rare, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, none in CoinArchives, and six specimens cited by the authors of RPC, including this coin.
