PHOENICIA, Aradus. Macrinus. AD 217-218. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 13.00 g, 12h). Laureate and draped bust right / Eagle standing facing on back of recumbent bull right, head and tail right, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak. Prieur 1244 var. (obv. legend, head of bull between eagle’s legs). VF, lightly toned, a few light scratches, some verdigris. Extremely rare if not unique, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, and none in CoinArchives.
