ATTICA, Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 17.13 g, 5h). Helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye / Owl standing right, head facing, closed tail feathers; olive sprig and crescent to left; all within incuse square. Kroll 8; HGC 4, 1597. Near EF, lightly toned.


The style of this piece suggests that it was struck very early in the long classical period production that lasted from circa 454-404 BC.
