Andronicus II Palaeologus. 1282-1328. AR Trachy (25mm, 1.44 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck 1320-1325. Half-length figure of St. Michael the Archangel, holding spear; at base, lis to either side; trace of labarum to upper right / A/И/ΛN/KO/IЄ (
sic) to right, ΔЄ/CП/OП/OI/CT (
sic) to left, Andronicus, with single wing to left, standing facing, holding lis-tipped scepter and patriarchal cross. DOC –; cf. LPC 48:20 (Andronicus II; for rev. [there listed as obv.]); cf. SB 2345 (for rev.). VF, toned, flan crack. Extremely rare in this metal.
