SELEUCIS and PIERIA, Emesa. Julia Domna. Augusta, AD 193-217. AR Tetradrachm (25.5mm, 14.52 g, 12h). Draped bust right / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; between legs, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Shamash left; crescent to lower right. Prieur 1007 var. (crescent below eagle’s head). Toned, light porosity. VF. Extremely rare, Prieur did not own this example when he published his book, and none in CoinArchives (and only one of Prieur 1007 in CoinArchives).
