Vitellius. AD 69. AR Denarius (17.5mm, 3.16 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa late April-20 December. A VITELLIVS GERMAN IMP TR P, bare head right / Victory seated left, holding patera and palm frond. RIC I 88 var. (bust type); RSC 120; BN 50 corr. (same). Toned, a few deposits. Fine. Very rare transitional issue from GERMANICVS with bare head right to GERMAN with laureate head right. Here we have the bust type of the first issue with the title of the second issue.
