Lexikon der Aufschridten auf griechischen Münzen. [Lexicon of Greek Coin Inscriptions.] Vol. I. (Wien, 2002).
The first title in the original printed wrappers with glassine sleeve, pages uncut and unopened and from the library of Joel Malter with his ex-libris on the inside front cover. The second in the original boards. Very Fine condition, both titles little used and clean, the spine of the second slightly bumped. Important works, the first the collection of the philologist, archaeologist and author Wilhelm Froehner, a prolific collector of coins and inscribed antiquities who “with a somewhat grim humour, prided himself upon keeping secret the contents of such inscriptions, as they had not already been published before they came into his posession.” Froehner passed away in 1925, leaving his collection to the Cabinet des Medailles of the National Library in Paris. His extensive collection of coins was sold by Ratto in two sales in 1909 and 1912. Two (2) titles in lot.
