Summer 2019 Literature Auction, Lot: 64. Estimate $100.

[SNG Ashmolean]. Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum. British Series. Volume V. Ashmolean Museum. Part 1A. Italy: Etruria-Lucania (Thurium). Part 2. Italy. Lucania (Thurium)-Bruttium. Sicily. (London; Published for the British Academy, 1962 & 1969). Folio. Plates (27)-40, each with page of descriptive text. Original printed card covers. Fine condition, minimal wear. The first two parts of this six volume collection. Initially begun in 1951 with the first volume concentrating solely on the collection of Arthur Evans it was decided over time, and with increasing numbers of acquisitions, that a geographical approach to publication made more sense than individual volumes of personal, named collections. As such the series started afresh in 1962 with volume 1A, as here. Clain-Stefanelli 1913*. Daehn 1972. Kroh p. 14. Website shipping rates do not apply.
