‘ATYPICAL’ COINS, Edessa type. Caracalla(?). AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 9.88 g, 12h). Radiate and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Eagle standing facing, head and tail right, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; small shrine between legs. Cf. Prieur 1718. Good silver quality, some porosity. Good VF. Extremely rare, this coin was not part of the Prieur collection at the time of his book’s publication.
