‘ATYPICAL’ COINS, Laodicea type. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. Æ Tetradrachm (25mm, 14.32 g, 12h). Laureate bust right, drapery on shoulder / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; five-pointed star between legs; Δ C across fields. Cf. Prieur 1735. Dark brown-green patina. Good VFVF. Extremely rare, this coin was not part of the Prieur collection at the time of his book’s publication.
