‘ATYPICAL’ COINS, Laodicea type. Elagabalus. AD 218-222. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 9.41 g, 11h). Laureate bust right, drapery on shoulder / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; seven-pointed star between legs; Δ Є across fields. Cf. Prieur 1735. Some porosity. Good VF. Extremely rare, this coin was not part of the Prieur collection at the time of his book’s publication.
