‘ATYPICAL’ COINS, Tyre type. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (26mm, 10.19 g, 7h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak; murex shell between legs. Cf. Prieur 1737. Some porosity. VF. Extremely rare, this coin was not part of the Prieur collection at the time of his book’s publication.
