CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 280 BC. AR Nomos (20mm, 7.85 g, 6h). Warrior, nude but for crested helmet, wearing shield on arm and holding spear, on horse prancing left; to left, Nike standing facing, restraining horse; [ΛYKIΣKOΣ below] / Phalanthos, nude, extending his arm, wearing shield inscribed E and holding two spears, riding dolphin left; ZOP to left, waves below. Vlasto 680 (same dies); HN Italy 963; Gillet 107 (same dies). Toned, with slight iridescence, a couple of light scratches under tone on reverse. Near EF.
