PHOENICIA, Byblus. Caracalla. AD 198-217. AR Tetradrachm (25mm, 12.65 g, 1h). Struck AD 215-217. Laureate head right / Eagle standing facing, head and tail left, with wings spread, holding wreath in beak, on ornate altar decorated with three niches, each containing a statue; K in right field. Prieur 1308 = SNG Righetti 2368 (same dies); Triton XVII, lot 759 (same dies). Toned, some granularity. VF. Extremely rare, the Triton coin is the only example in CoinArchives (where it hammered at $4000).
