NERO. 54-68 AD. Æ Sestertius (34mm, 25.72 gm). Struck circa 65 AD. Laureate head right / Roma seated left on cuirass with shields around and behind, holding Victory and parazonium. For obverse: cf. RIC I 292 (Roma with Victory and parazonium); cf. WCN 211 (same); cf. Cohen 262 (same); for reverse: RIC I 279; WCN 146; Cohen 276. Near VF, dark brown surfaces, worn at high points.
The seated figure of Roma on this sestertius of 65 AD celebrates Nero's rebuilding of parts of the city after the great fire of the previous year.
