Ephesos was one of the primary drachm mints of Lysimachos. Captured circa 295 BC, he renamed the city Ephesos Arsinoe, in honor of his wife. In 287 BC, Demetrios Poliorketes took control of the region, and Magnesia was allowed to attack many of its rivals, including Ephesos. Although Lysimachos soon reestablished control in Ionia, he apparently did not reopen most of his mints, having shifted production those that were located in more secure regions.
