Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (20mm, 3.81 g, 3h). Uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Patricia?). Struck circa 18 BC. CAESARI AVGVSTO, laureate head right / S • P • Q • R • in exergue, triumphal quadriga right; the chariot is ornamented with Victories at front and on side, and in it is an aquila and a miniature, galloping quadriga right. RIC I 108a; RSC 274; BMCRE 392 = BMCRR Rome 4429; BN 1177-8 and 1180-1. Beautifully toned. Choice EF. Well struck in excellent metal. Likely the finest known example of this rarity.
