ATTICA, Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.72 g, 12h). New Style coinage. Herakleides, Eukles(i)–, and Diok–, magistrates. Struck 105/4 BC. Head of Athena Parthenos right, wearing single-pendant earring, necklace, and triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with the foreparts of four horses above the visor, a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, and a curvilinear ornament on the bowl / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; A-ΘE above HPA-KΛE/ΔHΣ/ EVK/ΛHΣ/ ΔIOK (magistrates’ names) in five lines across field; in right field, winged Tyche standing left, holding in right hand an uncertain object over amphora, and cradling cornucopia in left arm; A on amphora, ME below; all within wreath . Thompson 749a (same obv. die); HGC 4, 1602. Lightly toned, underlying luster. EF.
