EGYPT, Alexandria. Commodus. AD 177-192. BI Tetradrachm (24mm, 13.55 g, 12h). Dated RY 17 of Marcus Aurelius (AD 177). Λ AVPHΛIOC KOMMOΔOC CЄB, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Nike advancing left, holding wreath in right hand and palm frond in left; IZ/L (date) to left. this coin); Emmett 2487.17 (R5). Dark brown surfaces, minor marks and scratches. VF. Very rare first issue after Commodus’ elevation to Augustus. Only four known to RPC.
