Qatari b. al-Fuja‘a was a leader of a Kharjite faction which opposed both the Umayyad caliphs and their Zubayrid rivals. His coins all bear the Kharjite slogan la hukm illa lillah, ‘There is no justice but from God’.
This slogan is also found on Umayyad dirhams struck half a century later during another Kharijite revolt at Kufa (see no. XXX)
