CILICIA, Olba. Augustus. 27 BC-14 AD. Æ 26mm (12.14 gm). Ajax, high priest of Olba. Dated year 1 (10/1 AD). Laureate head right / Thunderbolt; date below. SNG Levante 635 (this coin); RPC 3724. Good VF, dark green patina with earthen highlights. ($200)

The high priests of Olba, who also ruled the districts of Kennatis and Lalassis, claimed descent from Teucer, son of Telemon and half-brother of Ajax. Teucer, after the death of Ajax in the Trojan War, was banished from his home island of Salamis and founded a new Salamis on Cyprus. A branch of the family then moved on to Cilicia, according to tradition.
