Laureate head of Janus / Jupiter in quadriga driven by Victory right; grain ear below, ROMA raised on outlined tablet below. Crawford 42/1; Sydenham 66; Hersh, Quadrigatus 18 (O13/R12); RSC 24a. Lightly toned, good VF. Very rare. ($1000)

Hersh could only locate 33 specimens of these 'wheat' quadrigati for his study, and only one with these particular dies (which is in the ANS collection). This is the first of these we have handled that was not included in Hersh's study.
