The Virgin Platytera seated facing on throne with arched back, holding Christ child / "John, by the Grace of God, Archbishop of Constantinopolis-the New Rome, and Ecumenical Patriarch". Zakos II, 44. Good VF with light brown patina, scrape on obverse. Rare. ($1000)
John XIV Kelakas supported the party of Anna of Savoy and her son John V. When they were ousted by John Cantecuzenus in 1347, the patriarch was forced to abdicate.
