SICILY, Syracuse. Time of Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Dekadrachm (43.07 gm). Unsigned dies in the style of Euainetos. Struck circa 405-400 BC. Charioteer driving galloping quadriga left, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left; Nike flying right above, crowning charioteer; below heavy exergual line: a military harness, shield, greaves, cuirass and Attic helmet all connected by a horizontal spear / SU-RA-K-O-SIWN, wreathed head of Persephone-Kore left, wearing triple pendant earring and necklace, surrounded by four swimming dolphins; shell behind. Gallatin, obv. R.XI / rev. E.1; SNG ANS 372 (same dies); cf. SNG Lloyd 1413 (same obverse die); cf.
