THRACE, Dikaia. Circa 530-500 BC. AR Stater (9.85 gm). Beautiful Archaic-style head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / Diagonally-divided incuse square. BMC Thrace pg. 115, 1; SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Ashmolean 3599 = Kraay, ACGC 562. Good VF, surfaces slightly grainy, obverse well-centered and well-struck, with a strong portrait framed by an exceptionally aggressive-looking lion's skin headdress. Very rare. ($15,000)
