EPIFANOUS FILOPATOROS EUERGETOU, Arsakes I seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. Cf. Sellwood 36.13 (Darius?); Shore -; cf. BMC Parthia pg. 59, 33 (Unknown king); MACW -. Toned, good VF. Rare, and an unpublished variety. ($300)
Ex Numismatic Fine Arts XXII (1 June 1989), lot 351.[Cataloguer: This particular coin contains a variety of the typical monogram for the traveling court mint. It also contains an apparent variation of legend type ii, without 'KAI'. This legend only occurs on S36 coins from the mint at Ekbatana. However, the legend may also be construed as a variety of legend type iv, which does not contain 'KAI', but with the bottom two words inverted. The type iv legend is known at the mints of Ekbatana, Nisa, and Susa. As there are no known coins of the court mint at Susa, it is possible that the court mint was either at Ekbatana or Nisa at the time this coin was struck.]
