KINGS of PARTHIA. Vologases II. 77-80 AD. AR Diobol (1.43 gm). Uncertain mint. Diademed bust left, short beard, ear visible, wearing tiara decorated with pellets / Degraded legend, Arsakes I seated right on throne, holding bow; monogram below bow. Sellwood -; cf. D. Sellwood, "New Parthian Coin Types" in NumChron 1989, pl. 42, 3; Shore 391; BMC Parthia -; MACW -. Toned, good VF. ($200)
The attribution to Vologases II rests on the clearer reverse legend of the piece from Sellwood's article, though Shore notes that the reverse legend of this type is slightly different, and may indicate a different king (possibly Vologases I).
