SASANIAN KINGS of PERSIA. Bahram II, with Queen and Prince 4. 276-293 AD. AR Drachm (4.05 gm). Degraded Pahlavi legend, jugate busts of Bahram, crowned and cuirassed, and his queen, wearing a bonnet with a griffin's head and cuirass, right, facing the cuirassed bust of his son (Prince 4) left, who wears a bonnet with an eagle's head and presents wreath; pellet-in-crescent between figures / Degraded Pahlavi legend, fire altar with attendants, the right one presents wreath;
fravahr symbol (wreath) to left of flames. Göbl XI/3; Paruck 154 var. (no obverse symbols); Alram 748; MACW -; De Morgan pg. 673, 51 var. (same). Toned, good VF, crude strike, edge nick. ($300)
The pellet-in-crescent symbol is apparently unrecorded in this series, and combined with the crude style and strike, it is possible that this is an early imitative (Kushano-Sasanian?) issue.
