SASANIAN KINGS of PERSIA. Shahpur III. 383-388 AD. AR Drachm (4.25 gm). Uncertain eastern mint. Degraded Pahlavi legend, crowned and cuirassed bust right / "Fire [of] Shahp[ur]" in Pahlavi, fire altar with attendants and ribbon, bare-headed bust right in flames; "RAS"(?) in Pahlavi on central column. Göbl I/2; Paruck 269 var. (legends); Alram 835; MACW 915; De Morgan pg. 695, 148. Lightly toned, good VF. ($150)

The syle of this coin is identical to the drachms of Shahpur III found in the Tepe Marandjan hoard (cf. Göbl, Kushan pl. 155).
