DN mAVRICI TbERIO PP AVG, crowned facing bust, garbed in consular robes, holding mappa and eagle-tipped sceptre / Large M; ANNO XX (date) flanking, Chi-Rho above; B/TES. DOC I 69; MIB II 109; SB 505. Good VF, with choice red and black "Syrian" patina. Extremely rare consular issue of Maurice. ($750)

At £350 in VF, this is the highest priced bronze coin of Maurice in SB. The DOC and MIB entries are based on the only other published example, the Tolstoi specimen (114); this specimen is noticeably superior.
