CA MV flanking grain ear; small x under CA, pellet above M / CVN, horse galloping right; branch and two pellets above. Hobbs 1772ff; Van Arsdell 1925-5; SCBC 282. CCI 03.0701. Good VF, rose gold. Very rare variant. [See color enlargement on plate 22] ($1000)

Found The Rodings, Essex, 9 January 2001.

This is called Linear X-type because there is a line through the middle of the corn ear and a small X (moneyer's privy mark) below the letters CA. The pellet above the M is visible on the Van Arsdell specimen, but not noted. You can also sometimes see short lines indicating hairs of the horse's mane.
