MOESIA SUPERIOR, Viminacium. Valerian I. 253-260 AD. Æ 26mm (8.16 gm). Dated year 16 (255/6 AD). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / Female figure (Moesia?) standing facing, head left, extending her hands over bull at left and lion at right. Boric-Breskovic 1683; AMNG I 189; cf. SNG Copenhagen 174 (year 15). VF, green patina.

The dates are based on the inception of the mint's operation in 239 AD. The female figure may be a personification of Viminacium, Fides Militum, or Virtus Augusti; the bull represents the Legio VII Claudia; the lion the Legio IIII Flavia.
