HEPHTHALITES. Khurasan. Circa 680-720 AD. AR Drachm (2.97 gm). Arab-Sasanian drachm in the name of Khosrau II. MRW (Merv) mint, uncertain year. Crowned bust left resembling Khosrau II; two countermarks: one Arabic with bismallah in two lines, one in Sogdian with tamgha / Fire altar flanked by attendants; date to left, mint to right, marginal legend. Göbl, Hunnen -; SIC Ashmolean -; MACW -. Good VF. ($200)

No MRW (Merv) drachms are recorded in the name of Khosrau II. In addition, the two countermarks are unrecorded, although Göbl Km 120 is a similar single-line bismallah.
