Laureate bust right, slight drapery on left shoulder / Victory standing right erecting trophy, on the right stands a woman facing, captive at her feet. RIC IV 483d var. Septimius Severus waged his last military campaign against the Caledionians on the northern border of Britain, where he himself died at his campaign headquarters at York in February 211 AD. This issue, began shortly before Septimius' death, promoted their victory over the British, although this "victory" was more propaganda than reality.
