HERACLIUS, with HERACLIUS CONSTANTINE. 610-641 AD. Æ Follis (5.93 gm). Ravenna mint. Dated year 6(?) (615/6 AD). Crowned facing busts of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine / XXXX arranged around central star; ANN [UI] above, RAV. DOC II 285; MIB III 249; SB 911. Good VF, olive green patina. Extremely rare, possibly the second known specimen. ($500)
The only previously published example of this coin, from the Thomsen collection in Copenhagen, is weakly struck in the vicinity of the date. The present specimen, displaying a much stronger strike, has a flan flaw in that same location. The regnal date must remain uncertain.
