Humayun, the son of Babur, held Bengal for about nine months in 1538-1539. Traditionally the farthest eastward expansion of Mughal power, Humayun shortly thereafter ceded the region to the Suri sultans of Delhi. Rare silver coins were struck in Bengal by Humayun on both the traditional tanka standard and the newer, heavier rupee standard introduced by the Mughals.
