SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-406 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.28 gm). Obverse die signed by Eumenes, reverse die signed by Eukleidas. Struck circa 415-406 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga left, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; [signature EVMHNOV in exergue] / Head of Arethusa left, wearing looped earring and necklace, surrounded by four dolphins; [signature EUKL/EIDA inscribed on tablet below chin]. Tudeer 24 (V9/R16); SNG ANS 259 (same dies). Good VF, lightly toned, flan a bit short. ($1000)
