SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.43 gm). Struck circa 405-395 BC. Charioteer driving quadriga left, holding kentron and reins; above, Nike flying right, crowning charioteer; grain ear in exergue / Head of Arethusa left, wearing looped earrings and beaded necklace, hair in ampyx and sphendone ornamented with stars, surrounded by four dolphins. Tudeer 82 (V30/R55); cf. Boehringer, Dionysios, pl. 38, 3; SNG ANS 290 (same dies). Good VF, underlying luster, small flan flaw on reverse. ($2000)
