legio V Alaudae fought with him at Pharsalus, Thapsus, and Munda. Reconsituted by Antony in 44 BC upon the dictator's death, it fought at Mutina and Philippi. After Actium, it was incorporated into Octavian's reorganization of the army, thereupon serving in Spain and along the Rhine
