Price Collection (Stack's, 3 December 1996), lot 118.Nero Claudius Drusus, more commonly known as Drusus Senior, was the brother of Tiberius and the father of Claudius and Germanicus. When he was twenty-three, Augustus sent him into Rhaetia to quell a revolt of the Germanic tribes. The enemy was severely defeated and Roman dominion extended to the banks of the Elbe. In appreciation of his success, Drusus was given the surname of Germanicus, and the title was transmitted to his children.
