ANTONINUS PIUS. 138-161 AD. Æ Sestertius (24.64 gm). Struck 144 AD. Laureate bust right, wearing aegis / DES IIII, Salus standing facing, head left, feeding serpent entwined around altar from patera, and holding rudder set on globe. RIC III 749 var. (laureate head); BMCRE 1648 var. (same); Cohen 348 var. (same). Good VF, light brown patina. Very rare issue with DES IIII. Apparently unpublished bust type. ($400)
