ANGLO-SAXON. Kings of All England. Cnut. 1016-1035. AR Penny (0.85 gm). Quatrefoil type, circa 1017-1023. Sudbury mint; Mansige, moneyer. Crowned bust left, extending to the edge of flan, within circle / +MANSIE ON S•VDB•, voided long cross on quatrefoil with pellet at each apex. Cf. SCBI Copenhagen 3732 (same obverse die); North 783; SCBC 1157. EF. Very rare obverse variety with bust extending to edge of flan, and circle rather than quadrilobe. ($2000)
