ROMAN ERA. Roman. Gold Finger Ring with Intaglio Seal Stone. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Inner diameter 15mm, total weight 13.56 gm. A heavy plain gold band with a small bi-color sardonyx stone, white and black. The face of the stone is only 4mm across, and engraved with a tiny ant, the symbol of industriousness and prosperity. The ring shows signs of long wear, the stone is choice. ($500)
